Shadows of Prague

Original painting
on canvas
24" X 36"

December 5th marks the 219  anniversary
of Mozart's death
(1791)

This  painting was inspired by Mozart's life in Prague,1787.
He used to rent the rooms on the building on the right side of the street. On the left side of the street,Mozart's Opera libretist and friend was also living there at the time, they used to comunicate with each other thru the balcony, and windows of these buildings. I imagined all this going on when I was working on this painting.
If you are lucky enough to go to Prague, this street is still there, and the buildings as well,of course painted in diferent colours.

Mozart's music is being performed, recorded, and listened to at this time than ever before...
the explanation must be simple:
 An universal response to beauty
To me, Mozart  represents the pinnacle of human creative achievement.

The Canvas

acrylic on canvas
16" x 20"

The Canvas

if I could write sweet words that rhyme
I'd write a poem for you
if I could sketch a colored thought
by blending pastel views
I'd let the colors flow
forevermore
on the canvas of your heart

and if I was a poet still
I'd try to find the words
that might describe my mood
blend pastel views
with the reaches of the mind
and let the colors flow
forevermore
on the canvas of your heart
