About Me

Lancerika: Erika Morrison was born in Houston Texas, and has lived in Venezuela, Spain and Holland. She is entirely self taught and has been painting for many years in a style which she considers unique. An abstractionist artist. Her paintings represent a desire for beauty in an increasingly harsh and unnaturally modern world, where the emphasis is all too often loud and aggressive. Having no desire to emulate this, she uses elements of nature and architecture as a foundation along with expressions of color to create her own universe. She is currently living and painting in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. A form of creative hibernation in splendid isolation. Starry Night Over the Rhone by Vincent van Gogh

Starry Night Over the Rhone (September 1888) is one of Vincent van Gogh's paintings of Arles at night; it was painted at a spot on the banks of river which was only a minute or two's walk from the Yellow House on the Place Lamartine which Van Gogh was renting at the time. The night sky and the effects of light at night provided the subject for some of his more famous paintings, including Cafe Terrace at Night (painted earlier the same month) and the later canvas from Saint-Rémy, The Starry Night
